Oysters Crassostrea gigas marketing represents a major challenge for oyster farmers. The conservation of oyster quality is a major problem because these products should be sold fresh and must be alive. A solution to this problem is presented in this study that offers storage of oysters in a wet tissue at 4 ° C. The performance of this method was monitored by the analysis of cell viability during storage. The results showed that the viability of oysters was maintained after chilling in a wet tissue at 4 ° C up to 20 days. This simple and not expensive method allowed the extension of oysters shelf life for better marketing flexibility.
