Abstract

The objective of this study was to extract and characterize acid soluble collagens (ASC) and pepsin soluble collagens (PSC) from the scales of commun carp Cyprinus carpio. SDS-PAGE and FTIR confirmed that ASC and PSC were mainly composed of type I collagen with slight molecular structure differences. Both collagens comprised two different α chains, (α1 and α2) and one β chain.
