Abstract

For two tunisian coast red mullet species Mullus barbatus and Mullus surmuletus, the first sexual maturity age is attained about one year; from the second (year), almost all specimens are mature. The egg-laying periods and duration are variable in two species: Mullus surmuletus females have a precocious and short laying (from last april to start june); however, that of M. barbatus is later and spreader (from may to july).
