This work is a general study of the Gulf of Gabes. It deals with the hydrology, bottom characteristics, faunistic aspects and the possibilities of fisheries. The study includes: (1) the distribution of benthic population and fishery products in the various habitats. Tables include distribution of spp and their frequency. (2) the hourly production rate for each of the principal sp of fishery products. Gulf of Gabes benthos, suitable for trawling, is inhabited by small sized adult fish and many young fish; important quantities of benthic waste products, notably at depths of < 100 m, considerably disturb trawling operations. Nevertheless, the Gulf of Gabes offers other possibilities of various fisheries.
