Abstract

The influence of the opening mesh on the selectivity of the shrimp trawl was studied in the Tunis gulf with the research vessel "HANNOUN". The comparison of the selectivities parameters shows that the increasing of the opening of mesh improve the selectivity of the shrimp trawl. The increasing of the mesh size by 8 mm is not enough because the 50% length of the most important species red mullet (L50% = 13 cm) and hake (L50% = 14.3 cm) are less than the maturity sexual length of those species (red mullet: Lm =14.6 cm) and (hake: Lm =28.9 cm).
