The spectral mass of eighteen lactic bacterial strains recently isolated from freshwater fishes of Tunisia’s dams and exhibiting antimicrobial activities against various food-borne pathogens were generated. The intra and interspecific phyloproteomic relationships among strains were compared to available phylogenetic data based on 16S rRNA genes. Hence, we demonstrated that MALDI–TOF MS is a potent and reliable method for both discrimination and identification of lactic bacterial strains which could be relevant to apply before their use in foods and/or as probiotics in biomedicine and aquaculture.
