Xenopus oocytes have been developed as an efficient expression system in the early 70’s. Moreover, this cell has different types of conductances, as Cl-, Na+, K+, and even Ca2+. In fact, one of the most interesting features of the Xenopus oocyte is the possibility to study ion channels activity by electrophysiological methods as the two electrodes voltage clamp technique, TEVC. This work allows us to validate that the shell shrimp extract acts essentially on voltage dependent sodium channels of Xenopus oocytes by TEVC method.
