Examining oral cavities of specimens of the Payellus erythrinus catched in the Gulf of Tunis, the parasitic Copepod lernaeolophus sulfanus (fam. Lernaeoeeridae) has been recently recorded. b.2 of total fish populations examined hâve been found infected. however the rate of infection varies with the size of hosts. Probably 10.5 of total mortality of the Payellus erythrinus populations in the Gulf ot Tunis due to parasitic activity of the Lernaeolophus sulfanus.
