A sampling of parasited fishes from a farming-site located in southeastern Corsica (western Mediterranean) showed an infestation due to a Myxosporidian, Myxidium leei. The parasite invades the intestinal lining epithelium, causing emaciation and host mortality. The specimens over 16 cm total length were significantly less infested. However, the infestation does not show significative differences between males and females whatever the size of the specimens. Some hematologic parameters were used in order to show the role of the parasite in this fish disease and to determine on the host-parasite interaction. All these are significantly different between the infested specimens and the non-infested ones
