The histological study of gonads and the variations of the numerical proportions of the sex have permitted to show that Pagrus caeruleostictus is a rudimentary hermaphrodite. This species, which presents a sexual dimorphism, spawns from July to October. The absolute fecundity varies between 20,000 and 1,200,000 ovocytes for sizes varying between 15 and 42 cm.
