Chronologie de la reproduction et cycle de développement des gonades chez Barbus callensis Valenciennes, 1842 (Pisces, Cyprinidae) de Tunisie

Abstract

According to the variations of the gonado-somatic index , the reproduction period of Barbus callensis extends from mid-May to early July. The ovaries contained three batches of asynchronous oocytes, resulting in a single and intermittent oviposition prolonged under climatic influence. Finally, Barbus callensis may be ranked among lithophilous spawners, according to the pebble and gravel substrate over which it spawns in flowing water.
