Abstract

Specific composition, density and structure of phytoplankton populations in lake Ichkeul (Tunisia) were studied from January 1985 to June 1988. Phytoplankton successions are often unpredictable and characterized by populations with monospecific trend. The high frequence of "stage1" in phytoplanktonic sucessions is the result of adaptations of algal cells to environmental variability.
