The blue swimmer crab Portunus segnis, a Lessepsian species, was recorded for the first time in the south of the Gulf of Hammamet coastal waters. The species was recorded before in 2014 in the gulf of Gabès where it became very common mainly in 2015 and 2016 Recently, two specimens were caught alive close to Monastir fishing harbour; The first one was caught on the 15th of November 2016 in bottom gillnet by 10 meters depth, the second on the 20th of December 2016 in a surrounding net (lampara) 5 - 7 meters depth.
