Abstract

The purposes of this work on the Tunis south lake are to study the evolution of hydrobiological parameters in term of the tide, to determinate the time of oxygen breaking down and to estimate pollution level caused by some heavy metals in sediments and fish (Mugil cephalus and M. labrosus). The obtained results show that the Tunis south lake is loosing its vocation as being a vital ecosystem for faun and flora which live inside. This situation is the consequence of the coexistence of many factors, principally the industrial sewages, the eutrophication, the organic pollution and the very low water circulation between the lake and the sea.
