Abstract

A technical and economical study was carried out in order to assess the cost of production and total variable costs of Nile tilapia fingerlings (2 g). This study was based on the bio-zootechnical parameters of reproductive and growth performances of Nile tilapia reared at the aquaculture experimental station of the National Institute of Marine Science and Technology at Bechima, in Gabes governorate. Three production cases of fingerlings (2 g) were evaluated: 200000 over 4 cycles, 200000 over 6 cycles and 500000 through 4 cycles. The production cost of one fingerling was 0.034, 0.046 and 0.038 D respectively.
