Analyse des aspects socio-économiques et de la rentabilité de l'exploitation piscicole de la retenue du barrage de Sidi Salem

Abstract

The encouragement of freshwater fish farming in Sidi Salem dam by the Tunisian and German project (1990) had created a new economic activity around the dam, organised mainly by a community of fishermen, intermediates and consumers. This survey presents the principal social and economic characteristics of the fishermen population working in this impoundment. It analyses on one hand, the fishermen social status, their origin, the type of their activity..., and on the other hand, the profitability of this new economic sector created by the activity of fishing in the region and its long-term viability.
