Abstract

A preliminary age length and weight key is presented based on 212 swordfish (Xiphias gladius L.) samples caught along the Tunisian coast by longline fishing between March and September 2004. The length of the swordfish ranged from 60 cm to 173 cm, while the weight ranged from 1.5 kg to 55 kg. Spine analysis of the sampled sword fish revealed that the age ranges from 0 to 5 years
