The study of phanerogamous marine herbium of Tunis gulf has been undertaken in vew to delimit their out spread. The list of algae collected from the studied zones is given. Posidonia meadows seem to flourish on the south coast where they form a homogenic population more or less continuous. The posidonias seem also adapt themselves in the Korbous region but there installation ramains limited to a narrow zone with the following succession from the beach to offshore: Cymodocea nodosa/Cymodocea nodosa + Caulerpa prolifera Posidonia oceanica/Caulerpa prolifera. The vegetal population in the west and south west is formed essentially of a mixed meadow of Cymodocea nodosa and Caulerpa prolifera with isolated plates of Posidonia oceanica
