Abstract

The family of the blenniidae include 345 species that almost everywhere populate the coastal zone in the world. In Tunisia it is represented by 14 species belonging to 9 genuses. In our taxonomic survey and after a presentation of the family of Blenniidae, we first approached a tentative of discrimination between the species in return for morphological, meristic and morphométric characters. However, the overlap signaled in these characters make the task very difficult. In order to get a better separation we integrated the biometric variable in a multi-dimensional method (ACD) that permitted us a better discrimination of the species. Based on these results we established the record cards and the keys of determination for the 14 species of the tunisian Blenniidae. Also note that among the recorded species, H. bananensis, Pl. trigloides, L. dalmatinus and S. cristata are signalled for the first time in the Tunisian waters.
