Abstract

A statistical multivariate analysis was undertaken on the basis of 11 metric characteristics and 10 meristic characteristics of 3 samples of Soleidae pertaining to 2 different species coming from 3 distinct localities: S. aegyptiaca from Sfax and from Djerba and S. senegalensis from Bizerta. This study shows a significant difference in certain characters between the two species on the one hand and within simple of the same species on the other hand. The use of the canonical functions permits us to classify a sample with the adequate species and with the fishing locality of its capture. A complementary study integrating all the species of this family, morphological very similar, could be a new methodology of systematic only based on the significant characteristics.
