Tunis North lake primary production was studied throughout one year at six stations. Two maxima in production were found, one extremely high, in september, when net production was about 2.300 mg C/m super(3)/d sub(24), other of less importance in march (500 mg C/m super(3)/d sub(24)). For the whole of the considered year, net production (after deduction of night respiration) was 2,800 tons of organically combined carbon in the 27.63 10 super(6) m3 of the lake.
