12 spp of polychaetes and 8 spp of archiannelids from Tunisian exposed sandy beaches are listed. Nearly all of them are recorded for the 1st time from the North African coast. Except for 2 forms of the macrofauna they belong to the marine interstitial habitat. For some of them distribution patterns were reconstructed from quantitative investigations on the beach on Amilcar (Gulf of Tunis).A comparison with the northern coasts of the Mediterraneas shows that the presented list comprises typical polychaetes of exposed sandy beaches of the Mediterranean; the investigation confirms the zoogeogaphical uniformity of the western Mediterranean.
