The 1st result of the investigations carried out in 1972 and 1975 (at depths of 50 to 300 m and more) are given concerning the depth pattern and stocks (echo-sounding), together with an estimation of hourly fishing profitability (average 67 kg/h). A first fishing map has also been drawn up. These results permit the conclusion that the floor of the Eastern region ensures transition between the Northern and South Eastern regions of Tunisia.
