Abstract

Artemia salina was collected from sahline salt lake (Tunisia) and bred in laboratory to test the effect of different parameters (temperature; salinity and dissolved oxygen) on the survival of this crustacean. The survival rates of this crustacean were affected by the different values of studied factors. The recorded results showed that Artemia salina tolerated different temperatures and the optimum ranged from 25 to 27°C with a survival rate ranging from 84,44 to 88,88%. The optimal salinity to breed Artemia salina was 37 psu (62,22 ± 0,23%) after 28 days of experiment but a salinity of 95psu can be chosen with a survival rate equal to 57,77 ± 0,04%. Nevertheless, Artemia salina was able to survive and withstand the salinity of 0 psu (freshwater) until the end of the experiment (8,88%). The optimum concentration of dissolved oxygen was 7mg/l with a survival rate of 87,11 ± 0,04 %
